Continuing our exploration of social justice issues, Movies @ Hope turns to a just-released documentary, "Food Chains." Seasonal agricultural workers are among the lowest paid, most marginalized workers in America. This film depicts the efforts of Florida tomato pickers whose commitment to a better way of life for their children brought them to the bargaining table with McDonald’s, Walmart, and other giants of the food industry. Commentary will be provided by Pastor Richard Hoehn, former Director of Bread for the World Institute, and food industry expert, Paulette Thompson. We are pleased to announce that Maryland General Assembly Delegate Jimmy Tarlau – or another official designated by Mr. Tarlau if his work at the Assembly does not permit him to attend – will lead the discussion after the film.
As always, admission and refreshments are free! Friday, 10 April 2015, 07:30pm
